The basics
What is HeyFiancé?
HeyFiancé is a wedding planning app for two people. You and your partner answer the same 45 questions separately, it shows you what you already agree on and the handful of things you don't, and then it turns those answers into your task list, your budget and your guest list. Everything is in one place and the parts are connected, so deciding something updates the plan.
How much does HeyFiancé cost?
$39, once, per couple. Both partners are included, there's no subscription, and nothing is paid for by vendors or advertisers. Creating your account is free; the $39 covers the questions and everything they turn into.
Who built HeyFiancé, and why?
It was built for two couples—twin sisters, both engaged in the same year—who were tired of a planning process split across a shared spreadsheet, six browser tabs and a group chat. The design brief was three words: fun, low overwhelm, one place.
How it works
How does answering questions separately work?
Each of you answers on your own phone, whenever suits you. Neither of you can see the other's answer to a question until you've both answered it, and there's no way around that, so there's no peeking. Once you've both answered, HeyFiancé works out where you agree and shows you the results together.
What happens when we disagree about something?
It becomes a conversation card: both answers side by side, no verdict, and a prompt to help you talk about it. Most disagreements turn out to be one person caring a lot and the other not caring at all, which the app can tell because you each rate how much the answer matters to you. When you've settled it, one tap records what you decided.
Do I have to plan the whole wedding at once?
No, and HeyFiancé actively stops you. The home screen shows at most five things: anything due in the next two weeks, then whatever you can actually start now, and nothing else. The other 70 tasks are there, they're just not your problem this week. You can push anything to next week without being nagged about it.
What if we haven't picked a date yet?
That's the normal place to start. Tasks are grouped by roughly when they happen (a year out, six months out, the final week) rather than pinned to dates, so the list makes sense before you have one. Add a date later and every task gets a due date, counted back from the wedding. If you've got less time than a task usually needs, it's marked catch-up, not overdue.
Can we invite a parent or a friend to help?
Not yet. For now a wedding is just the two of you. A way to invite a parent, a sibling or a maid of honor is planned, but until then, anything you want them to see, you'll have to show them.
Budget and vendors
How does the budget work?
You enter one number, what you're comfortable spending, and HeyFiancé splits it across 16 categories using typical percentages, which you can move around however you like. Costs that depend on how many people come, like catering, update themselves when your guest list changes, so adding twelve cousins changes the catering estimate without you doing the math. A vendor's quote becomes a line in your budget in one tap, and every payment has a due date.
Does HeyFiancé tell us what we should spend?
It gives you a starting split and then gets out of the way. The suggested percentages are there so you don't start from a blank page, not because they're right for your wedding. When you rank your priorities in the questions, it will suggest moving a little money toward your top two and away from your bottom two, and you're free to ignore it.
Can we track vendor contracts and deposits?
Yes. Each vendor moves from researching, to contacted, to quoted, to booked (or passed), with their quote attached, and you can keep the contract, quote or menu with them. What you've been quoted, what you've paid and what's still due are kept separately, so you always know where you stand. Anything due in the next two weeks shows up on your home screen.
Practical questions
Is our wedding data private?
Yes. Your wedding is only visible to the two of you. Not to other couples, not to vendors, not to advertisers, and not to anyone else. We test that automatically every time we change anything, rather than trusting ourselves to remember.
Do we need to install an app?
No. HeyFiancé works on any phone, tablet or laptop: just sign in at heyfiance.com. If you'd like it on your phone like any other app, you can add it to your home screen and it opens with its own icon. That part's optional.
Can we import a guest list we already started?
Yes. Bring the spreadsheet you've already started and HeyFiancé works out which column is which, shows you what it's about to add before adding anything, and skips anyone already on the list. Guests are grouped into households, so a family shares one address, and whether someone gets a plus-one is set for the household.
Does it do RSVPs and seating?
It keeps track of RSVPs and it does a seating chart. It doesn't collect RSVPs for you: there's no page for guests to reply on, so you enter replies as they come in. Seating puts guests at tables rather than in numbered chairs, and a table can go over its seat count, because real seating charts do.
Can I use HeyFiancé to plan something that isn't a wedding?
Technically nothing stops you, but the 45 questions, 75 tasks and 16 budget categories are all wedding-shaped, so most of it would be wrong for a birthday or a conference. The part that would transfer is the one worth stealing: two people answering the same questions separately before anyone starts a spreadsheet.
Still deciding?
It takes about fifteen minutes to find out whether it's useful, and nothing to undo if it isn't.
Start with the questions.
Fifteen minutes, separately, on your own phones. Better to find the four things now than in May.
$39 once, per couple. No subscription, no upsell waiting three screens in.
